I would imagine that Missouri is unique this year. At least I've not heard of any other state in our particular circumstances. What is unique is that Missouri will be holding both a Primary election (today), and a 'Pub caucus (March 17.)
There will be no 'Pub delegates allocated by today's Primary. Those will be allocated based on the March 17th caucus. So why vote today if you're a 'Pub? To vote against Romney as the 'Pub establishment's chosen candidate.
Only three major, if you want to call Ron Paul major, candidates are on the ballot: Romney, Santorum, and Paul. There are a smattering of others but they collectively pull 1% or less in the polls. So it is a choice of one of the three. Due to the rules, no write-in candidates will be accepted...write-ins will be counted as unaffiliated.
Perry, who dropped out, and Newt are not on the primary ballot. Newt, saying it was non-binding, decided it was a waste of money. I don't remember what was Perry's reason for not filing. It's irrelevant now. Newt will be a candidate for the Missouri caucus.
Mrs. Crucis and I will be voting this morning as we depart to attend some chores. We'll vote for Santorum, who is an acceptable candidate for us, much more so than Romney or Paul.
Santorum is rising in the polls in Missouri, Minnesota and Colorado. All three states will have a primary today, February 7. I want to be a monkey-wrench in the Romney RINO machine.
